Introduction:

The Sustainable Wine Professional (SWP) project is a short-course targeted at tasting room staff and other wine industry professionals with the goal of enhancing their the ability to convey the importance of sustainable grape growing techniques in an ecologically-sensitive environment.

Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing (LISW) is the only comprehensive, region-specific set of guidelines in the eastern U.S. After completion of this course students should have a better understanding of what practices are being used under the LISW guidelines and why these are important to sustainable viticulture in the Long Island region, as well as a better general understanding of sustainability in agriculture.
